Discover the unique Tilia Primus – the linden honey brandy from Saxony

The bee colonies are out and about all year round in the picturesque Plauenscher Grund, a landscape on the outskirts of Dresden characterized by extensive lime trees. Inspired by this special nature, an exclusive “Primus” lime honey brandy was created in 2020 – a truly unique product.

What makes Tilia Primus so special?

The name “Tilia” – Latin for lime tree – stands for nature and its power. The lime trees, majestic and gentle, provide the nectar that forms the basis for this noble spirit. Every drop tells the story of blossoms, sun and the silent power of nature. In September 2020, this honey wine was distilled with great care in Saxony’s first distillery. After a maturation period of twelve months in the vaulted cellar, Tilia Primus reveals its complex aromas – a harmonious blend of sweetness, fruitiness and spice. Spring water from the Ore Mountains – soft, pure water of the highest quality – is used to bring out the subtle nuances. It complements the aromas perfectly and makes every sip a special experience. Tilia Primus is more than just a drink; it is an expression of nature, craftsmanship and patience. A drop that touches the soul and reflects the beauty of the lime trees in every nuance.

The taste of Tilia Primus

Linden honey brandy is based on linden nectar collected by bees in July. The result is a spirit that surprises with aromas of lemon balm and mint. It is reminiscent of gin, but without any sweetness. The palate reveals a fresh, cool note with a soft, full feel – a rarity among fine brandies that impresses with its complexity.

Production & tradition

Once the honey has been harvested, it is dissolved in water and fermented with wine yeast to make honey wine – a process that takes around 12 weeks. The honey wine is distilled twice to create the lime honey brandy. Fermentation takes place at around 20 °C in stainless steel tanks. The subsequent maturation in glass balloons in the vaulted cellar ensures purity and clarity. A drink with a history Honey wine, also known as mead, is more than just a drink – it is a touch of times gone by. It has been connecting people for centuries, telling stories of ancient rituals and nocturnal festivals. This ancient magic lives on in Lindenhonigbrand, transporting you to a world full of flavor and history.

Pleasure tip:

The ideal drinking temperature is 20-24 °C. Tilia Primus is best enjoyed neat to fully experience the complex aromas.
